Geocoding Speed & Quality

Once you have uploaded your address file to MapLarge, our server will immediately start geocoding your file and return the results in seconds. Jobs under 100,000 records will normally take less than 1 minute.

Our geocoder will attempt to match addresses to the side of the street. We use advanced name matching techniques to achieve a high geocoding success rate. Results vary by file but you can expect to achieve accurate geocodes on +/- 90% of your file. You only pay for records that are geocoded.

Geocode Pricing

MapLarge is able to pass on volume discounts from our mapping customers to deliver exceptional pricing on bulk geocodes. Customers only pay for the records that geocode. You can download a sample of your geocoded data and view the number of geocoded records before you purchase the geocoded file. We also offer monthly API access solutions starting at $350 a month, see the Geocoder API reference for additional details.

What is a 'High Quality Geocode'?

High Quality Geocodes:
The following are high quality geocodes:

ExactMatch: Records that matched a street name and geocoded with no problems.
KnownAlternateName: Records with a street name that matches a known alternate street name or a very common misspelling.
Ex. MLK Drive would match Martin Luther King Dr.
DirectionSuffixRemoved: Records where the street name was matched by removing the trailing street direction suffix.
Ex. Main Street NE would be matched to Main Street
DirectionPrefixRemoved: The leading direction removed from the street name to produce a geocode match.
Ex. East Rock Springs Rd would be matched to Rock Springs Road.

Low Quality Matches - (no charge)
The following are low quality geocodes:

WeakName: A low quality street name match due to misspelling or other errors. This is the system's best guess. Ex. Lower Sweet Grass Road NE might match to Sweet Grass Ln in the same region if no other matches are found.
MatchTo Zip, City or State: The record failed to match a street name. These records were geocoded to the most accurate population weighted center point available (the zip, city or state). If a zip is supplied but seems incorrect then the city will be used. If a city is given but no zip or state the system will match to the most populous city in the U.S. with that city name. Ex. Atlanta, GA 11093 would match to Atlanta because 11093 is too far from Atlanta Ex. Miami without a state or zip would match to Miami, FL because it is the most populous city named "Miami" in the U.S.
IsPOBOX: Records determined to be a PO Box. These records are geocoded to their zip code or city.
Region Not Found: The state could not be found and the zip and city could not be used to infer the state. Place holder values of 0 will be entered.
Error: Garbled or missing data in a malformed CSV row. Place holder values of 0 will be entered.
